Learning how to do a CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) doesn’t take much time.
It only takes around four hours to learn the most basic of
all medical training classes. It is performed on patients who
can no longer breathe on their own. It helps give the brain the
much-needed oxygen until one can get the patient’s heart to
beat again.
There are different methods by which one can learn CPR. One
can go to a traditional CPR training wherein one attends
lectures, demonstrations and practice scenarios. One has to
undergo through written tests and skills checks on manikins to
see whether the person has already acquired the required skill
necessary to perform it on a human. These are taught and
supervised by certified instructors. One can also opt to go to
an online CPR training where students choose a course that they
want to sign up for, pay online, read, study and basically
watch video presentations online. There is interactive
assistance available via the phone or through online chat. Just
like the traditional CPR training, they also have to take and
pass written tests. However, there are no skills checks which
make some employers quite hesitant in accepting people who
learned through online CPR training. There is also a combined
method which combines the methods of traditional training with
that of online CPR training. You can learn and take the tests
online but you have to go through a skills check.
