Infant CPR Courses- For Choking Emergencies

All of us think that we would never be put in such a situation when we will have to perform acts in order to save our child's life. But the fact is that you should be prepared for any emergency because it could happen anytime and anywhere.

Babies are delicate and choke on food or toys or various other things such as drawstrings or curtains and so on. If your baby gets choked and suddenly gets lifeless you should know what to do exactly, at that moment, for sometimes it could be a while before medical emergency gets there. For this, you will have to find out infant CPR courses that are held from time to time in children's hospitals and various other centers. You need to know when and how to attain the course. The class usually takes 5 hours and it is held in two sessions. The first session deals with the infants from birth to 1 year and the second session deals with the children of 1 year and above.

Infants are very delicate and sensitive and should be treated in a very special way. While attending the infant CPR courses, be assured that the instructor is qualified and explains everything clearly. Perform the activities in front of the instructor so that you are fully prepared, and you'll be told if your doing anything in a wrong manner. Instructors will correct you on this. If the child gets choked seriously you might have to call upon the pediatrics or SOS for children. This too will be told to you at an infant CPR course, as sometimes in emergency situations, we are unable to think clearly.

You must know the basics of CPR technique and the special treatments in different types of choking. Take some hours from your daily routine and attend infant CPR courses to learn and practice the techniques properly in front of an expert instructor. You will also be explained how to assess that your baby is choking on something. The symptoms of choking are different when the child is below 1 year and when it is above 1 year. So there are two different sessions for the children below and above one year. If your child is below 1 year and suddenly you see that it is unable to cry or cough, something must be blocking their airway. If the child is unable to breath for 6 minutes it might not survive so you need to act immediately. You should be well informed where and how to struck so that the thing that has blocked comes out immediately and easily. For this you need to be trained and certified which is possible if you attend infant CPR courses.
